Marsha Harris

Marsha Harris is a native of Muskegon, MI. She works as a Civil Rights Investigator for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. A social worker by heart, Marsha has over a decade of experience advocating for at-risk populations. Her personal mission is to inspire before she expires. She is most passionate about reducing the cycle of intergenerational incarceration and poverty. In 2015, she created a school based after-school program for children of incarcerated parents at Muskegon Middle School. In 2016, she initiated and lead the first Christmas toy drive for children who had a parent incarcerated in Kent County Jail. Marsha’s professional background is in criminal justice, child welfare, and education administration. Her experiences include working as a Detention Youth Care Specialist at Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center, Youth Safety Advocate & Truancy Liaison for Muskegon Public Schools, Prison Re-Entry Specialist for Hope Network, and CPS Service Specialist for the State of Michigan. Marsha has a Bachelor of Art Degree in Criminal Justice from Saginaw Valley State University, and a Master of Science in Administration Degree from Central Michigan University.
